NewsCervical Cancer Vaccine Approved by FDAFriday 9th June 2006Gardisil has been approved by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The vaccine prevents common forms of HPV that can cause cervical cancer in women. Proponents of male circumcision once argued, based on controversial and highly questionable data, that female partners of circumcised men were less likely to develop cervical cancer. The approval of Gardasil silences this justification for male circumcision. Gardasil also prevents genital warts in both men and women.
