NewsReimer case on BBC TV 'Horizon'Tuesday 2nd November 2004This Thursday BBC TV's doumentary series "Horizon" is to air the case of David Reimer, the boy who was brought up as a girl against his will after a botched circumcision. David took his own life at age 38 earlier this year. Following the circumcision in which David lost his entire penis it was recommended by Dr John Money, a New Zealander living in Baltimore and he was a psychologist at Johns Hopkins, that David should be castrated, given feminising surgery and brought up as a girl. Thus Reimer suffered not only a botched circumcision but also a forced sterilisation. |
