You’ll want to fully clean penis pumps every once in a while. Since I’m about to release a HydroXtreme review, I’ll be using the Bathmate cleaning kit to clean in this example, but it’s not mandatory.
A penis pump is comprised of multiple parts and all them should be cleaned, if you want to learn more about penis pumps check out our article What is a Penis Pump to dive into further detail.
There’s a few methods to ensure it’s done properly. You can use a penis pump cleaning kit, sex toy cleaner or water. The first option was created for cleaning penis pumps, and a free sample comes with the purchase but it isn’t mandatory. Let’s jump in.
How Come Cleaning a Penis Pump is Necessary?
It’s necessary to prevent dry skin on penis, as well as avoid skin diseases or bacterial illness from poorly cleaned penis pumps.

An infection is bad can irritate the glans of your penis, requiring a break from your routine and sex too. Your partner may even jump to false conclusions, so clean it!
Rinsing it out with cold water isn’t going to cut it, especially hydro penis pumps. A water penis pump is designed to go in water, but it’s not designed to be self-cleaning.
Accumulation of residue on penis pumps can prevent them from performing efficiently. Taking care of your Bathmate and making sure it’s maintained will produce better results and keep it in great shape for years.
If you don’t already have the Bathmate Cleaning Kit, get a towel, sponge, water, soap or antibacterial spray suitable for silicone.

- Leave soapy water in the interior and allow it to flow through and out the top.
- In the shower or bath, rinse it all out with water. Ensure there’s no soap left.
- Using a towel, dry thoroughly then leave them resting on the towel to allow them to air dry for a few hours.
If you have a Hydromax or HydroXtreme, it’s also critical to clean the valve on a regular basis. Not using a cleaning kit can impede the pump from attaining a seal, making it ineffective. Be sure to check out our Bathmate Hydromax7 review since as we mentioned there, the valve is one of the regions most impacted by residue buildup.
How to Clean Dick After Using Bathmate
As long as you are properly cleaning with the bathmate cleaning kit on a regular basis, cleaning your penis normally will suffice. Simply remove the bathmate from your penis and clean it the same way you should everyday.
How Often Should You Clean Bathmate?
We recommend using the cleaning kit once a week or after five uses. It may seem excessive but it’s completely necessary to avoid friction burn on penis and is considered the best practice for hygiene. Detailed instructions on how to disassemble and clean your it can be found in our Bathmate Hydro pump review.
Can you Clean Hydromax Dry?
No, we don’t recommend cleaning the Hydromax without water. Use the cleaning kit that comes as a free sample with the purchase.
